In this world, there are shepherds and there are sheep.
My best friend, is definitely both.🙂
You see, these are the issues. Kani I put a Surah or Bible verse as the heading, you just might not have clicked as fast. Small gist teaser, you're here. Deny it, I dare you. 🌚 Not to worry, I'm not judging, I'm not judging. I'm in a good mood; my man's team had a win last night.
Depending on my mood, I find motivational talk to be a range of things. From inspiring to unmoving to annoying. If I'll be annoying you with this read, oh well, it's all good.
Some, 4 or 5 days ago, one of my friends sent me a Google meet link to a 3-day prayer streak so, I joined. I hate to sound this cliche, but I really enjoyed those 3 days. It was filling. It occupied some void I wasn't aware existed. Except you're an Atheist, if you haven't been in your God's presence lately, maybe take a few steps back to recharge. I dare say it pays to extol spirituality over mortality.
I believe that there are no shepherds or sheep, good or bad people. I think that we are just imperfect beings who sometimes do good or bad things - extreme even. The craze surfaces when we try to prove that we are more inclined to a particular side. Why try to convince other imperfect people of your morality or iniquity?
Ultimately, no one will be there to protect you from your suffering, not even yourself. A crying shoulder here and there might be comforting but you still will be left to the silence of your room staring at the 33, now 32 ceiling tiles. Not to worry, you'll get over it - or not. At least you allowed yourself to feel and heal; against all logic.
Imagine that there's a chapter for every character that graces the books of our lives. Our actions or inactions punctuate these chapters. Just like some chapters have a start, an end and a little too many dramatic pauses, not all chapters have to bear a period to connote closure. I wonder why uncertainty+hidden hope cannot be expressed with a punctuation but would allow one hold them together. Sometimes, the writer binds my words in quotations like they have committed a grave sin. Yes, mistakes are made but dashes help, don't they? Harsh truths surface other times and are exaggerated with an exclamation but in all honesty, you and I wouldn't mind being written in brackets or inverted commas if we got to wake up somewhere safe with someone safe so we could have a little too many chia seeds in our oatmeal. (or groundnut in our garri; whatever works for you.) If I could be a punctuation mark, I would be an ellipsis. She holds more faith in continuity than I ever would…
There's not so much excitement these days. Be easy on others, be easy on your soul. Tend to yourself like you would to the world. Donate to charity. We could all use some more care, silence, empathy, and softness. Forgive yourself too. You are not a bad person, you are just human, trying to survive in this manual-less world.
Or maybe you're a bad person sha, na you sabi.

And of course, Semo is not something that human beings should eat.
For the most part, may it never be heard that we are a generation that don't love the unloved things, and may it never be heard that I don't give love to those who need it.
Spread love. I will too, for the rest of my long life.🤍 Mwah!

This is coool!!
First time reading your write-up and yes because of the headline, and I enjoyed it <33
